Health & nutrition
Nutrition belongs in a wider preconception conversation. The aim is to support health and identify individual needs, not to find a perfect diet that promises a pregnancy.

Start with your actual circumstances
A useful discussion includes your usual meals, access to food, medical conditions, medicines, dietary restrictions and any history of difficult relationships with eating. It should leave room for your budget, culture and daily routine. A restrictive plan that you cannot maintain is not automatically better care.
Health is not a fertility guarantee
ASRM notes that evidence is insufficient to show that a particular diet or macronutrient pattern improves natural fertility. Observational associations are not proof that a food or supplement caused a pregnancy. A varied eating pattern can support general health without being advertised as a treatment for infertility.
Preconception advice has a different purpose
The NHS advises folic acid before pregnancy and in early pregnancy to reduce neural-tube-defect risk. That is not the same as a promise to improve egg quality or IVF success. Ask your clinician or pharmacist about the appropriate preparation and dose for you, especially if medicines or medical conditions alter your needs.
Review products, not just ingredients
Bring the labels of supplements, herbal products and fertility bundles to an appointment. Include serving size, dose and how often you use them. Check overlapping ingredients across products, cost and whether a proposed product has a defined purpose. Do not change prescribed treatment because of a general nutrition article.
Keep food and emotion separate from blame
An unsuccessful cycle is not a verdict on the quality of your meals or your determination. You can ask for support with eating, sleep or coping without accepting the idea that you caused an outcome by being stressed or eating the wrong thing.
A practical appointment note
Choose one question you want answered: a dietary restriction, symptoms that make eating difficult, a possible deficiency, or the safety of a product. Note who will assess it and when the plan will be reviewed. Avoid turning every ordinary meal into a test of whether you deserve a good result.
Questions people ask
Are fertility supplements essential for everyone?
No universal fertility bundle is established for everyone. The reason, evidence, safety and cost of any product should be discussed individually.
Can this page give me a meal plan?
No. Personal nutrition care requires an assessment by a suitably qualified professional. This page explains how to prepare that conversation.
